If you are planning your next UK break, I would love to put Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa on your radar with its jaw dropping ocean views, superb location, excellent food offerings and dreamy spa. Not forgetting spacious ocean view rooms with vistas that make you feel like you are abroad when you see the turquoise hues of the sea!
Location
Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa is an adults only hotel located in Pentire, and overlooks Fistral Beach, renowned as a superb surfing spot due to its west-facing aspect which exposes it to Atlantic swells ensuring consistent waves suitable for surfing. The beach has been the venue for major international surfing competitions.
It’s in close proximity to Newquay town centre and conveniently located if you want to do a few day trips or excursions to other parts of Cornwall such as Padstow, St Ives or to visit the world famous Eden Project. We drove to Polgoon Vineyard and also Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm, both of which I recommend.
There is so much to do around the area itself too. We loved walking down to the beach and experiencing the buzz of the restaurants and bars along there too.
We drove from London and took us approximately 5 hours and there is parking available on site.
Rooms
The hotel has 71 cool and comfortable rooms and suites across six room types: suites, Best rooms, Sea view and balcony, Sea view, Standard and Economy. All rooms follow the same coastal-inspired design, honing in on the surrounding sea vistas, with soft palettes and crisp bed linen, set against simple, understated furnishings.
I was in one of the Best rooms and it had a dreamy view, was spacious but the pièce de résistance was the bathroom!
Now that is what you call a bathtub with a view!
Along with all the lovely touches you would expect, there was a Nespresso machine and tea making facilities, robes, slippers and GAIA toiletries, which are one of my favourites.
My favourite part was being able to see the ocean from my bed and we were treated to a gorgeous sunset and sunrise!
I thoroughly enjoyed having a coffee in the morning with this view!
Service and Facilities

A visit to the spa is an absolute must, where there’s a vitality pool, steam room, sauna, hot tub and nine treatment rooms including a couple’s room. I had a fantastic time pre-breakfast in the hot tub as it opens from 6:00am.
There is also a fitness suite and fitness room should you wish to work out.
If you fancy learning how to surf the Quiksilver Surf School is just down the road and located at at sister hotel, The Esplanade.
Food and Drink
We had quite the gastronomical break at Fistral Beach, starting with a delectable afternoon tea with the backdrop of the ocean!
As we were visiting during the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday it was a themed Afternoon Tea and it was superb. The regular Afternoon Tea offering sounds amazing too!
For dinner we experienced the tasting menu at Dunes Restaurant and what an incredible experience it was! The menu is by Chef Daniel Kerr and it is imaginative, creative and makes the most of local produce. Fresh and flavoursome!
We kicked off with an amuse-bouche of Cornish Mackerel, apple & elderflower jelly, pickled cucumber and borage as well as a selection of bread & snacks.
Dishes we had:
▫️ Vodka cured chalk farm trout with avocado, bloody mary sorbet (which was incredible) and linseed crackers
▫️ Bird’s liver parfait with pickled melons, chicken skin and brioche
▫️ Plaice fillet with confit fennel, plum tomato, scallop and vanilla butter
▫️ Lamb rump, which was lamb shoulder boulangere, smoked aubergine, pak choi and confit tomatoes
▫️ Strawberries & Cream dessert – DREAMY! A strawberry mousse, vanilla genoise, strawberry salad and served with clotted cream ice cream.
We opted for the wine pairing and it was a gorgeous match for each dish. Especially the Birbet with the dessert!
As someone who isn’t a huge seafood fan I actually really enjoyed it all and have to say the trout with the Bloody Mary sorbet was my favourite dish!

If you are visiting Newquay or Cornwall in general, highly recommend booking this Tasting Menu as it is a brilliant experience!
Breakfast was also in the Dunes restaurant and there was a fantastic selection of cereals, pastries and juices to pick from as well as a hot menu as a second course.
I opted for Eggs Benedict and it was so tasty with the perfectly poached eggs and runny yolk!
I also want to mention the cocktails as they are SO good!! The Bay Bar is perfect for pre-dinner cocktails or post dinner night caps! I had actually visited here during Christmas 2021 for a cocktail making class which was also so much fun.
If you are looking for a lovely seaside break, highly recommend Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa as a base. From amazing service, sensational food and gorgeous rooms, it is the perfect place to soak up the ocean views, relax, unwind and explore Cornwall from!
