On our first day in Cornwall we arrived at Carbis Bay Estate to remarkable views and glorious weather. Looking at the aqua hues on the ocean it was hard to believe we were in the UK – just so stunning! I think this is one of the most beautiful spots I have seen in the UK in the 20 years that I have lived here.
As we had arrived a little early we decided to enjoy some drinks at the Beach Club and soak up some sunshine. As it was the start of the long weekend in honour of the Platinum Jubilee, I opted for a chilled glass of bubbles whilst Amit tried the local beer.
We then headed over to Walter’s on the beach, where we had a lunch reservation.
The restaurant has views over St. Ives Bay, making it the perfect lunch time spot, or even dinner spot on the long summer evenings, with both an alfresco area and an inside dining room which has fabulous interiors.
For starters we shared King Prawns, Wasabi, Cucumber, Sorbet, Charred Gem and Italian Gnudi, Fried Sage, Hazelnuts, Jerusalem Artichoke. They were both so tasty but the Gnudi is a must must order in my opinion – morsels of deliciousness!
For mains I enjoyed the Korean Chicken, Kimchi and Sticky Rice whilst Amit had Pan-Fried Seabass, Potato Rősti, Kohlrabi, Coriander & Vanilla Sauce. Both dishes were fantastic and I loved the mix of International and British classics on the menu.
For dessert I knew I had to try the Tonka Bean Panna Cotta with Clotted Cream Ice Cream and oh it was everything I hoped for and more! Just sublime!
If you are in Cornwall or visiting, highly recommend dining here, especially for the menu and the views – both complementing each other beautifully. Carbis Bay Estate itself looked superb from what I saw and had lots of other dining options so if you can perhaps book to stay here and enjoy the spectacular St Ives and have a gourmet break.

I was kindly a guest of the restaurant and my meal was complimentary but all views and photos are my own.
