About Binny

Hi I’m Binny, an award winning Food and Travel blogger based in London. I was born and raised in the East African coastal city of Mombasa, Kenya, and grew up surrounded by coconut trees, the sound of the ocean waves crashing against the shore, monkeys playing in our garden and beautiful scenery. I later moved to the capital city Nairobi, where my family still reside.

When I was 16, my family moved to Nairobi, where I did my A’levels and then left for the UK to go to University at 18. I studied for 3 years at Cardiff University, after which I did a postgraduate in Marketing at UMIST in Manchester. I then worked in a bank in Canary Wharf, running an Investments Funds Platform until September 2017.

I have now taken the leap to leave my corporate desk job to become a full time blogger as well as a Solopreneur, running my own Social Media Consultancy, Binny Shah Patel Social.

It is in Kenya that my love for animals grew and I am a keen supporter in the fight against poaching of Elephants, Rhinos, Giraffes and other endangered species.

My passion is writing and I love to blog about food, whether it is to share recipes for dishes I love which are influenced from my upbringing in Kenya and my heritage, or to share experiences about restaurants I have tried. I am also a keen traveller and share hotel reviews as well as content about travel destinations on my blog.

I won the Post Office Travel and Food Blogger of The Year 2018. I was also Highly Commended in the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards, 2015 and a finalist in the UK Blog Awards 2016.

My idea of bliss is a delicious mojito and creme brûlée while relaxing on a tropical beach.

Beautiful pictures. I am from Africa as well from Mombasa now living in Canada. Bhagwanji Kachori and Balushahi was the best. I wish we could get the recipes to try ourselves. I love to cook.
