Having hosted the prestigious Ryder Cup four times, The Belfry Hotel and Resort, in Sutton Coldfield, is arguably the home of golf in England, and is also where the PGA is headquartered.
Only 20 minutes from Birmingham International, this resort is vast and luxurious, surrounded by 550 acres of stunning countryside. For someone that comes from a golfing mad family and who grew up living opposite a golf course, something about the sight of the green is so comforting.
Though it’s got a spectacular golf course, there is so much more at this resort for non-golfers too, with expansive grounds to walk around, multiple restaurants, a Spa and delicious offerings such as Afternoon Tea. It would be perfect for a family break, romantic escape or even a girls weekend.
There are over 300 stylish rooms and suites overlooking either the grounds or the golf course. I was staying in one of the Signature Suites, The Sunningdale Suite, named after a famous golf course, which was a spacious suite with a balcony overlooking the green.
Food and Drink
The Brabazon Bar is absolutely gorgeous. You can enjoy cocktails, bar snacks as well as indulge in Afternoon Tea here.
Sam’s Clubhouse is a sports bar, with a more casual dining menu with offerings such as nachos, sandwiches, burgers and wings.
We had breakfast and dinner at The Ryder Grill, a AA Rosette Restaurant. The open plan kitchen takes centre of the room and you can tuck into a range of grilled specialities such as steaks.
There is also an Italian restaurant serving up pizzas and pastas called Rocca’s which is open on the weekends.
In the warmer months there are lovely outside terraces to sit on with a view of the course.
We had a lovely stay and we felt assured by all the safety measures in place throughout the hotel.
If you are looking for a winter break, the hotel is offering a fantastic Winter Wellness Spa Day package from just the £79 per person. It includes a 60-minute spa treatment (inner beauty facial, inner calm massage or Orli candle massage), one-hour use of the pool, one-hour use of the relaxation room a glass of Prosecco, plus the use of robes and towels, and afternoon tea.
