Page8 – so called because of its address at 8 St Martin’s Place, is one of London’s newest hotels with a superb location in the heart of West London, with close proximity to Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, The Strand and directly opposite the National Gallery. The building used to be a post office.
Perfect for?
Perfect for a luxury Central London break, whether you are a couple, group of friends or even a family. The location of the hotel makes it ideal to combine with a visit to either the many theatres nearby to watch a show, to shop, or to have a gourmet break with so many incredible restaurants a short walk or couple of tube stops away, and some fantastic bars to have some cocktails at.
Rooms
There are 138 rooms, each dazzling in a cobalt blue and white colour scheme, with large windows overlooking some of central London’s most iconic landmarks, including Trafalgar Square, the London Eye, the Colosseum theatre and National Gallery.
Mine was on the second floor and even thought I was in such a bustling area of London, when inside my room it was so well sound proofed that I couldn’t hear any of the chaos outside. I loved the modern design with vintage touches such as an old-school telephone and Marshall speaker, perfect for streaming my music on via bluetooth.
The rooms are an adequate size, spacious, and come with a complimentary mini bar, which has a selection of sodas, red & white wine, Prosecco, still and sparkling water and fresh milk, which is such a great offering. There are also snacks, coffees and teas and a kettle too.
Each room has a Blueair purifier, which is a nice touch, as well as a full length mirror which is a major plus point. There are lots of plus dotted around the room in convenient spots, especially by the bed, with USB slots, which is also really convenient.
There are full size C.O. Bigelow toiletries in the gorgeous bathroom, with its stylish marble accents, which is fantastic and way more sustainable than tiny disposable toiletries often found as part of hotel amenities.
For pre-bedtime TV watching, there is a wall mounted flatscreen SMART TV directly opposite the bed. I like how the design of the room is so well thought out and so comfortable.
Food & Drink
Adjacent to the reception desk downstairs is the Page Common, Page8’s in-house artisanal coffeehouse. Page Common serves home blend coffee sourced from Brazil, Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia and brewed using the Sanremo Café Racer.
It’s a lovely spot to pop in to work from even if you aren’t staying at the hotel.
There is a rooftop restaurant due to open later, which will take over the 618sqm top floor of the hotel. This new restaurant will have a wrap around alfresco rooftop bar with 360-degree views of the London skyline, which I am sure will become a hot spot, especially if they open up in time for summer.
We did indulge in breakfast before checking out – a granola with greek yoghurt and a fruit compote for me and an Avocado Toast with a poached egg for Amit, and both were delicious. There are some great breakfast offerings from pastries to cooked dishes, and presented beautifully!
All in all, we had a wonderful stay and I would recommend it for a lovely Central London break, as is so close to so many great restaurants, bars, theatres, galleries and shops. The room was fantastic, bed super comfortable and the location just superb!
