I fell in love with Palermo, a city in southern Italy, specifically Sicily, and I wanted to share my top tips of what to see, do and try. I would encourage everyone to visit to get a dose of this wonderful city, which I feel is so perfect whether you are looking for family travel, a couple’s trip, a quick city break or even a solo trip.
I visited as part of a group trip with Sicilia DOC where I learned so much about the amazing Sicilian wine, but was able to spend a day exploring the city solo too and found it to be so walkable and easy to navigate!

The easiest way to get there is by plane. Palermo Falcone Borcellino Airport (PMO) is the biggest in Sicily. Alternatively, fly into Catania-Fontanarossa Airport (CTA) on the other side of the island, and get the train across.
From the airport, there are a few ways you can get to Palermo city centre:
- Shuttle bus from (45-55 minutes)
- Train: The Trinacria Express runs between the airport and Stazione Centrale every hour.
- You can also get a taxi from the airport
