Thinking of visiting Chester for a staycation? I highly recommend staying at The Moxy, Chester, a fun, quirky, playful modern hotel located a five-minute walk from the city centre and train station. So so convenient!
There is so much to do and see in this charming walled city and its just over 2 hours on the train from London making it great for a quick and accessible getaway.
I adore the interiors at Moxy Chester, which are influenced by the hotel’s proximity to the Chester racecourse, with a steel horse installation in the lobby area, a series of racing-themed murals on display, and an installation of Chester’s prominent Shot Tower landmark near the lobby. I would love to visit other Moxys to see their themes too! I am a big Moxy hotel fan having spent many a night dancing away at the Fleur rooftop in NYC. I love that this brand is expanding all over the UK too.
The hotel lobby of Moxy Chester has a video wall and 24-hour bar, which doubles as the check-in location and serves food, wines by the glass and local brews. This is where we had breakfast, which was such an incredible spread that catered for all dietary requirements adequatel
On check in you are also offered a welcome cocktail, which is delicious!
Rooms
There are 194 spacious rooms which all include large flatscreen TV’s, built-in USB ports (which are super handy) and complimentary wifi.
I adored that my mirror was personalised according to my interests. I loved this quirky touch which makes such a difference. It’s these small details that make me appreciate the effort a hotel makes to welcome you.
The bed was so comfortable. and the room had everything you could possibly need for a city break. I loved the design details and the fact that they had thought of everything from hangers to hairdryers! I literally packed so light!
The bathroom was a great size and the toiletries were fabulous, and I loved the hot pink hue of them, and they smelt fabulous.
It was very modern, looked new and the shower had a great level of pressure.
It’s perfect for solo travellers, couples or even friends.
Hotel facilities
The reception area is modern, comfortable and casual much like the rest of the Moxy. There are lots of comfortable chairs on the ground floor and upper level mezzanine floor, that overlooks the main reception area.
Here there are also meeting rooms, desks and printers available on the mezzanine floor, should you want to have work meetings or find a quiet spot to do some work, pool tables and games. I actually enjoyed doing a bit of work in my room too.
I adored all the quirky features dotted around such as this large pink stuffed toys, as well as signs and art pieces garnishing the reception area. It is very instagrammable!
If you needed to iron your clothes there is an entire ironing room! This small boutique sized hotel literally has everything you could need!
Parking at The Moxy
There is a reasonably large car park at The Moxy (24 spaces) as well as an NCP car park nearby (five minute walk).
All-in-all we had a fab stay at The Moxy, and we would completely recommend a stay there for a break in Chester. It would be great fun for a group of friends or even a couple, looking for a fun hotel. I know I will definitely be back to explore Chester from this wonderful base.
It is also dog friendly so feel free to bring your furry best pal along!
We were invited to visit and review The Moxy, as ever all opinions expressed are my own.
