When searching countryside venues, I came across Widbrook Grange, an 18th century Georgian country farmhouse in Wiltshire, Bradford-on-Avon and loved the look of it as well as the fact that it was so well located within close driving proximity to Bath, Salisbury and a few other lovely places. It also has an on-site Gin Bar, which I knew Amit would love!
Please note this was not a sponsored trip. It cost us £378 for two nights over Easter with breakfast included and we booked on Booking.com – I had an amazing time and so wanted to share my experience.
We picked the weekend with the best weather for this holiday as it was filled with sunshine and superb temperatures, so plenty of time was spent outdoors.
On arrival to Widbrook Grange, I already loved the vibe as we drove through the long driveway with greenery all around. As we walked to the reception I could see other guests enjoying a drink and soaking up the sun’s rays in the garden, whilst others were indulging in an Afternoon Tea or Cream Tea. I knew Amit really wanted a Cream Tea and so after our check in, which was really lovely, we headed straight down.
It was delicious and the perfect way to kick off the Easter weekend! Soon after we went to the Gin Bar, got ourselves a G&T each and perched ourselves on the deckchairs and people (and dog) watched.
The dogs were having an amazing time in the garden playing with each other and I had so much dog envy! I was rather pleased when I was asked to watch over one cute pup whilst the owner wanted to go grab something from his room! If you are a dog owner, Widbrook Grange is absolutely perfect!
Our room
Widbrook Grange has 19 boutique bedrooms and we were staying in ‘The Writers Room’ in the main house. It is beautiful with lovely wallpaper, rich fabrics & views overlooking the grounds, and a super comfy King size bed! It has a fabulous desk which I did end up doing a bit of work from!
The bathroom has a roll top bath, is bright and spacious and the fittings are all of high quality and kitted out with full size Bramley products which smell divine!
The Gin Bar
The Gin Bar at Widbrook Grange was seriously impressive with over 150 craft and award winning gins available to choose from! I loved the decor too – such a striking bar!
They also did lots of other cocktails, had a lovely wine list and were fully stocked up on variants of cider, perfect for warm and sunny days!
Dining at Widbrook Grange
We had breakfast included and there was a wonderful selection to choose from which included a menu of cooked items such as a full English breakfast, Eggs and Soldiers etc. The produce is all sourced locally from farms nearby and I absolutely loved breakfast time with my runny eggs and buttered soldiers!
We also had dinner here and the food was fantastic with a varied menu with lots of different flavours, ingredients and textures. Would highly recommend ending your meal with the Cheese selection as the cheese is all locally sourced and incredible.
If you are staying at Widbrook Grange with your canine friend there is a lovely separate dining area where all the dogs can mingle whilst you enjoy your meal.
If you just want to relax with a coffee there is a lovely and cosy lounge area to chill in.
The grounds
We were blessed with amazing weather but there are Wellies on hand in case it is mucky outside!
There are gorgeous gardens to relax in and to take a stroll in with lots of pretty flowers and it is so tranquil! I really enjoyed sitting in the garden with a drink in hand and just soaking up all that sunshine and fresh air! There is a pool and fitness centre on site if you want to swim or work out.
I loved my stay and already want to go back sometime as it was just the perfect place to recharge our batteries and explore the countryside. I would highly recommend a stay at Widbrook Grange, especially if you have a dog as they would be in doggy heaven there with lots of friends to play with! The service and staff is impeccable, the food is gorgeous and the grounds stunning.
Its location is perfect for exploring nearby attractions such as Stonehenge, Stourhead House and Gardens and seeing the famous White Horse on Westbury Hill and it is also a very family friendly place to stay, so perfect to go with your kids.

Oh my goodness, those views! This looks a beautiful place to stay. I love the rustic feel of it, and anything that allows dogs gets a big brownie point from me. The bar looks amazing and being honest, it had me at gin! Thank you for sharing, I will save this one as a to be visited!

A hotel with it’s own gin bar sounds absolutely perfect! I love the fact that it’s so doggo-friendly – and wasn’t the weather over Easter weekend just glorious? No wonder who spent so much time roaming the grounds. Although that roll-top bath looks extremely inviting 🙂
