Life is anything but normal right now—and with us all spending extended periods at home, I’ve curated a list of the top ‘must have’ home tech products that either make life a little bit more easier, whether it’s saving time, making your home environment a little bit more pleasant or a ‘how did I live without this” vibe.
I have purchased some of these myself and absolutely love them and some are on my current wish-list to add to my home, in case my list inspires you to do the same!
The Barista Express™ – Sage Appliances
Kenwood Mini Chopper
This is a total life-saver in my kitchen and I have had it for years! I use it for everything from chopping garlic, ginger, chillis, onions and other vegetables to making chutneys and hummus!
At just £25.98 it is a staple I highly recommend! Saves time and works a dream!
George Foreman Grill
We bought this at the start of the first lockdown and it has been used several times a week since for everything from sizzling our burger patties, sausages and bacon to charring our vegetables.
It is so easy to wipe clean and doesn’t take up much room at all. I bought mine from amazon for £29 and my model is George Foreman Family 5-Portion(510 sq cm plate) Grill 23420 – Black. I would say this is perfect for 1/2 people.
Portable Air Cooler,Personal Mini Air Conditioner
With Spring & Summer on the way (yay), I recommend getting an air cooler/conditioner early before they get sold out! I bought this one from Amazon and it’s perfect to pop on your desk or in a room to cool it up on those days when your home feels like a sauna!
This one is only £19.99 and you can purchase it here
Air Purifier
As someone that suffers from dust and pollen allergies, I found this to be really effective in Spring/Summer and generally just for cleaning the air in my rooms, especially as we are spending extended times in them!
The one I bought is no longer available but here is a similar one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/EXTSUD-Portable-Purifier-Desktop-Freshener/
The Hoover H-HANDY 700 HH710M, Handheld Cordless Vacuum is a home essential designed for on the spot cleaning! I particularly love it for my home office, which I like to keep super clean as I pretty much spend 7 days a week here.
Love it for a quick clean (all those biscuit crumbs from munching in-between zooms) to any other scenarios, especially if you are temporarily (fingers crossed) home schooling or you have a naughty hamster that likes to make a mess, like me, that chews up every cardboard box in sight leaving a trail of destruction!
I like how compact it is and easy to charge and store too – it works a charm and it’s one of those products you didn’t know you needed till you have it!
I was kindly gifted this by Hoover but you can purchase one online here: https://www.hoover.co.uk/en_GB/handheld-vacuum-cleaners/-/catalog/39300764/hh710m-001
Cook in one’s/Multi Cookers
I have a Tefal Cook4Me which looks like this, which is quite old, but which has been a lifesaver. We are thinking of upgrading ours to one that includes a few more options such as an air fryer option, but honestly, when you are cooking things like curry/dal/rice/stews you can leave it to cook for a few hours and the food tastes incredible.
The one we are thinking of upgrading to is the Ninja Foodi Electric Multi-Cooker [OP350UK] Pressure Cooker and Air Fryer as it has so many great features such as Pressure Cook, Air Fry, Slow Cook, Grill, Steam, Sear/Sauté, Bake/Roast, Yoghurt & Dehydrate.
The KitchenAid NEW Artisan K400 Blender in HONEY
A brand which I think must be on everyone’s wish-list is KitchenAid, and they have just launched a new Artisan K400 Blender in a fabulous Honey colour! Isn’t it a beauty?
It saves time on food prep as it easily powers through the toughest ingredients. Apples and almonds, carrots, kale and coconut, ice and seeds are no match for the stable die-cast metal base, 1.5 peak HP motor and unique asymmetric stainless-steel blades – precisely angled to work with the 1.4L ribbed glass jar – to create a mighty blending vortex to tackle the most tricky of ingredients head on. Making the smoothest, best tasting soups, sauces and smoothies, packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, couldn’t be easier or quicker.
In the summer months, the crushed ice feature will be a winner!
KitchenAid Artisan K400 Bender (RRP £279) in NEW HONEY is available from kitchenaid.co.uk
Wine Fridge
With our 11th Wedding Anniversary coming up and us both being wine lovers and collectors, this is on both of our wish-lists!
I think it will be used ALOT!
I spotted this one on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Subcold-Viva24-LED-Counter-Single-Zone/dp/B087KJ5KZK/ but there are loads of variation available. I just think it makes such a big difference when your wine is stored at the right temperatures.
Are there any tech gadgets or appliances that you absolutely rate that have made lockdown easier in some way for you? Let me know in the comments!
