The London Landmarks Afternoon Tea at The Kensington

The Kensington Hotel has been serving up some incredible Afternoon Teas over the years and my favourite has been the very popular Tale as Old as Time Afternoon Tea, inspired by Beauty and the Beast, which I have actually experienced three times – that’s how much I loved it!

It has been replaced with an equally amazing themed tea that celebrates some of London’s much loved icons, buildings and structures – The London Landmarks Afternoon Tea! What better than an afternoon tea paying homage to one of the best cities in the world!

I enjoyed it with adequate social distancing measures in place with lovely friends in the lovely outside seating area adjacent to the Drawing Rooms, and we kicked off with a chilled glass of Perrier Jouet Champagne.

Served on a cake stand that cleverly resembles the London Eye you will find the iconic Red Telephone Box, Big Ben, the Gherkin and my favourite landmark of them all, The Shard.

But first, let’s talk about the savouries. You get a trio to indulge in and The Colston Bassett Stilton and broccoli quiche was my absolute favourite. I got the vegetarian selection but you would ordinarily get a Steak & London Ale Pie and a bite-size Crab Cake with Tartare Sauce & Capers.

Highlights of the sandwich selection include Smoked Salmon, Lovage Pesto & Cream Cheese on Brown Bread, Egg and Cress Brioche Roll using eggs from Heritage breed Copper Marans hens, and a Coronation Chicken Sandwich on Brown Loaf.

Next is the tier that no Afternoon Tea is complete without – freshly baked Scones served with Heather Hills Strawberry Jam & Clotted Cream. Mmmmm!

Now the best part, an edible tour of the capital’s most famed icons.

The Gherkin crafted from White Chocolate with a Dark Chocolate Ganache.

The Shard made of Carrot Cake & Milk Chocolate. I may be biased but this was actually my favourite landmark to eat too!

An iconic London Telephone Box imagined in Rhubarb Mousse.

Finally, a Big Ben-inspired Lemon Curd Tart, which was also sublime!

It’s such a lovely way to experience London in a totally indulgent and unique way and would be perfect for a leisurely catch up with friends and family or even as a date idea. If you are visiting London, this is the perfect activity to do in between immersing yourself in sightseeing!

I love the friendly and relaxed atmosphere at The Kensington, the service and the gorgeous venue.

London Landmarks Afternoon Tea at The Kensington Hotel is priced from £42 per person. Gluten Free and Vegan Afternoon Tea options are also available.
