With ever changing travel restrictions, uncertainty about lockdowns and nervousness about international travel, why not plan a socially-distant and safe staycation in London in the new year if you’re in need of a break.
With so many gorgeous hotels in the capital, you can find some incredible deals and if you aren’t sure where to check-in, I love this website as one of my top resources to find the best cheap hotels in London’s City Centre.
Visit The Shard, my favourite London Landmark
I recommend popping in to The Shard, a 72-storey skyscraper, designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, in Southwark, London, for a drink and to soak up some incredible views of London!
Top tip: You don’t need a reservation to go for a drink at Aqua Shard .
River Thames Cruise
Go sightseeing whilst indulging in Afternoon Tea with City Cruises. It’s such a lovely way to see all the key London Landmarks. The boats are completely weatherproof so it doesn’t matter if there are drizzles!
You embark at Tower Pier and it is a lovely alternative view to see London’s iconic skyline and landmarks.
Sip on Chai and wander around Covent Garden
If you’ve watched Chef’s Table on Netflix you will know the force that is Asma Khan and her newly opened restaurant in Covent Garden should definitely be a pit stop to pick up some takeaway Chai before wandering around Covent Garden.
I recommend popping into the Apple Market for a stroll.
Borough Market
If you are a foodie, Borough Market is not to be missed! You can try some street food as well as pick up lots of artisan breads, cheese and other produce.
Go for Afternoon Tea
So many venues in London offer a delightful Afternoon Tea from classic and traditional to themed, depending on the season. If you have the time to spend a leisurely afternoon indulging, do it!
Go on the London Eye
If you have not ever had the chance before or it’s been a long time since you last did, why not book to go on the London Eye. It’s a lovely way to play tourist and great fun!
