My top picks of Restaurant meals and delivery kits – tried and tested

The silver lining of lockdown and spending more time at home has been the emergence of such fantastic Restaurant meal delivery kits that you can order and enjoy at home, in the comfy of your PJs! Win win!

Lots are now available for delivery nationwide, some only within M25, but be sure to check the delivery dates and radius prior to ordering to help you meal plan. They are also a fantastic way to support restaurants during these turbulent times.

I also find that it’s a great way to try the food from ones you may not have had a chance to try before too!

They have truly been a joy to make at home and here are some of my favourites!

Wahaca en Casa Feast Box

One of the best meals I’ve at home lately is the Wahaca en Casa Feast Box, which is delivered every Friday in London right in time to have a fiesta at home. So much so that we want to do it all over again!

They make a limited amount of these boxes each week (50) so be sure to be quick to put your order in to reserve yours!

What’s in the box?

• A trio of fresh salsas – Spicy Macha, Smoky Chipotle, Citrusy Tomatillo
• Tortilla chips
• Ingredients to make your own Wahaca guacamole
• Slow-cooked free range British pork pibil tacos with pink pickled onions.
• Ancho marinated free range British chicken tacos
• Black been & three cheese quesadilla
• Freshly made slaw
• Frijoles, refried beans
• Wahaca chocolate brownie

We had SO much fun making all of it together and it was such a generous amount that it actually lasted us for 2 meals between 2 of us, so I think it is fantastic value too! The box is £40 and the ingredients are excellent quality and they travelled really well. I loved the fact that all the salsas came with it as they all tasted amazing.

For an optional £15 extra you can add

The flavours are incredible and it all just tastes as fabulous as the dishes served in the restaurant itself. I also loved that there was minimal effort required to assemble it all. Just reheating in the oven and in a pan.

We also learned a brand new way to make guacamole thanks to their recipe which delivers a superb flavour punch. Thanks Wahaca! That recipe is what we will be using from now on.

The entire meal was so lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed making it as much as devouring it. Great idea for a Friday night date night or Saturday leisurely lunch, which is what we did. You’ll need a siesta after!

Delivery is available in London every Friday. If you prefer, you can choose the eco-delivery option, which is made by bicycle within a 9 miles radius of the Wahaca Islington restaurant. You can also choose to collect directly from the Islington branch.

Patty & Bun Vegan DIY Burger Kit via Plateaway

The Patty & Bun Vegan DIY Burger Kit has been one of my top Restaurant kits to date and though we tried the Vegan one, my friends have tried some of the other ones and adored them!

In the box is everything you need to make the most delicious Plant Based version of their popular Ari Gold and Smokey Robinson burgers at home.

Box contents:

  • 4x Plant Based Patties
  • 4x THIS Isn’t Bacon
  • Vegan Smokey Mayo
  • Pickled Onions
  • Caramelised  Onions
  • Vegan Cheese
  • 4x Buns and Instructions!

What you will need to have ready separately is sliced tomatoes, ketchup and lettuce. We didn’t have any lettuce at home so we just left it out and it was just as tasty!

For the Ari Gold you use the pickled onions and for the Smokey Robinson you add caramelised onions and the crispy streaky Vegan bacon. We merged the two as we wanted to use both the pickled onions and caramelised onions as well as the Vegan bacon.

The portions of the pickled onions, caramelised onions and mayo were very generous.
