Now that we’ve been in our home for over a year, I am starting to tackle rooms that were left on the ‘deal with later’ list, and one of those rooms is our Living Room. In there we brought along our old sofas and cabinet and had decided to put a carpet in it at the time. It is currently the only room which has a carpet and compared to flooring in the rest of the house, we now wish we had put in flooring there too.
After using the room over the past year we’ve decided it’s time to make some changes and we will be replacing the carpet with flooring.
I have done lots of research and have settled on going for Solid Wood Flooring and I am particularly drawn to the Edmonton Elite Solid Light Grey Oak Brushed & Lacquered Wood Flooring as it’s the closest to the flooring we have in the rest of the house.
The reason why we have decided to move away from carpets in that particular room is because it tends to get a little stuffy on particularly warm days compared to the rest of the house which maintains temperature more consistently.
Upon researching all the options I have my heart set on Solid Wood Flooring as it’s one of the most attractive and durable options. It does require a little more maintenance, but the good news is that it comes with a guarantee from 15-30 years.
It also adds to the atmosphere I want to create – a more rustic look with an elegant, high-end aesthetic. Solid wood floors also make a room look more spacious compared to carpets. It also matches well with what we have in the rest of the house.
Compared to the carpet, it is also easier to clean as it does not accumulate a lot of dirt, dust, and debris. We’ve already had one mishap on the carpet and it still shows!
Finally, hardwood floors increase the value of a property and so while it is more expensive than other options, it is a great long-term investment.
