When you’re working from home and spending time ticking things off your to-do list as well as jumping from one Zoom call to the next, sometimes it can be easy to neglect eating properly due to a sheer lack of time.
Here’s where Idahoan Buttery Mash is perfect! In a minute you can have delicious mash, and if you want to jazz it up, within 10 minutes you can turn it into a Masala Mash!
Here’s how…
First, I added the Idahoan Buttery Mash to boiling water as per packet instructions and it fluffed up in less than a minute! There are six other flavours available but for this recipe, the Buttery Mash works best.
Additional ingredients you will need:
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Handful curry leaves
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- pinch of Asafoetida
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 a teaspoon chilli powder
- 1/2 a teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (taste and adjust)
- Handful of coriander to garnish
In a separate pan I heated the oil and when it was hot I added the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When these started to sizzle and pop, I added the Asafoetida, curry leaves, garlic paste, ginger paste, turmeric, chilli powder, cumin powder, garam masala and salt.
I stirred in the mash to this and and mixed it all up well, letting it cook together for 3 minutes.
Once all mixed well, I took it off heat, added it in to my favourite bowl and garnished it with fresh coriander.
A delicious spruced up and very quick, convenient lunch from a fantastic store cupboard essential which doesn’t even take up that much room in your pantry cupboard!
