A dreamy Afternoon Tea indulgence in the comfort of my home

A pastime I have been missing dearly is going for Afternoon Tea and as we couldn’t go out to enjoy one in honour of our 10 year Wedding anniversary celebrations, I decided to surprise Amit on a random Monday afternoon by having an Afternoon Tea experience delivered home. I then set it all out on nice plates, brewed some tea and when he finished his work call and walked into the room his face said it all!

I live in North London and I ordered the Afternoon Tea from a local bakery called The Waiting Room, which is on Totteridge Lane and it cost £12.50pp. It was delivered with proper social distancing adherence and all packaged up so nicely with a handwritten menu too.

It was truly incredible and we got a Vegetarian selection of freshly cut finger sandwiches which were Cream Cheese and Cucumber, Egg and Mayo and Cheese and Chutney for the savoury selection.

The scones were just so heavenly and soft and fluffy and we had a generous amount of clotted cream and strawberry jam to go with it. I warmed them up in the oven and they were perfect!

The pastry selection was just sublime. There was Chocolate Brownies, Viennese Whirls, Macarons and Fruit Tarts. My favourite were the Viennese Whirls – I wish I could buy a box of them! They were so buttery and melted in my mouth!

It was so lovely to take some time out on a Monday and indulge a little and we both thoroughly loved being able to enjoy it in the comfort of our own home at our own pace. I will definitely order this again and when they re-open will be popping in too.

If you live in North London within delivery radius of them I highly recommend this as something nice to do for a treat or to surprise someone that you are self isolating with or even surprise someone who you know lives in North London.

If you don’t live in near enough proximity to The Waiting Room, why not check if your local bakeries are offering something similar as a pivot during the current circumstances.

I love packing my bags and going off on adventures as one of the best things about travelling is the ability to just get lost in it. To set aside the maps and itineraries and just see where the road takes you, learning and evolving and living in the moment along the way. It's my goal to get swept off my feet as often as possible!
