Finding the best internet deal when moving and running my business from a SMART home

As you may know, we recently moved into a new home and the part I was most excited about was my new home office space, which is much more spacious than at my previous home (which was in a box room).

I took great joy in furnishing my new space with velvet sofas and marble top side tables, making it a lovely area to settle down with a good book too, when having a break in between working.

As a freelancer, running my own Social Media Management Business and Food and Travel blog full time,I work from home a great deal and so one of the major factors when preparing and planning to move home was ensuring that we had top notch internet readily installed as my work is heavily dependent on this!

We also decided to try and make our home more sustainable by installing SMART home technology wherever possible because of its ability to conserve energy. We wanted to keep track of our energy use and ultimately decrease it and thus reduce our home’s environmental impact.

As we moved from a flat to a home, we also installed a burglar alarm system, all of which is plugged into the internet and so another reason why I wanted to get fast and reliable internet in our new home.

Internet bills are one of my main business overheads and so searching for the best broadband deals to get the best deal possible was of importance to me with the ultimate aim being to save money.

I used an online comparison site to research what the best broadband deal was at the time of sourcing providers and I particularly loved the format in which results were presented on the site categorised by:

  • Average speed
  • Monthly downloads
  • Set-up cost
  • Contract duration

This made it so quick and easy to identify deals that suited my requirements and saved me lots of time and effort trawling through multiple sites.

Whilst I used cable to seek out broadband deals, you can also use it to find mobile phone and TV deals too.

Now that we’ve been in our home for 6 months its safe to say I am happy with my internet provider and would definitely recommend cable to anyone who is looking to change their Broadband/TV/Mobile phone provider as a valuable tool in finding some great deals.

I’m also super thrilled with controlling the heating and alarm system using an app on my phone. If you are thinking of installing SMART home technology, seriously just do it, not only is it energy efficient, it makes life so much easier too!

Hi, I’m Binny – a writer, dreamer, serial wanderluster and travel addict. I am originally from Kenya but now live in London. I set up this blog to share my experiences eating out as well as travelling.

I love packing my bags and going off on adventures as one of the best things about travelling is the ability to just get lost in it. To set aside the maps and itineraries and just see where the road takes you, learning and evolving and living in the moment along the way.

It’s my goal to get swept off my feet as often as possible.
