Learning how to cook Greek Food and discovering Parga & Lefkas

I love Greek food but have never attempted to make it myself and so when an invitation popped up to learn how to cook some much loved dishes I couldn’t resist. It conjured up memories in my mind of fabulous meals last summer in Greece, al fresco, with a glass of wine in hand!

We kicked off the evening learning how to make a fresh and colourful Greek salad made with large vine tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, olives and feta seasoned with dry herbs and with a good generous drizzle of top quality extra virgin olive oil – the perfect salad to have as a side or even a mains, and absolutely perfect for these summer months!

Next up were Spanakopitas, which were baked filo pastry parcels filled with Spinach and Ricotta and served with a side of Tzatziki, a refreshing dip made from cucumber, lemon juice and yoghurt and seasoned with salt and pepper. These were so moreish and once you got the hang of the technique they were so easy to make!

The third dish was stuffed peppers and tomatoes filled with bulgar, crumbled feta, herbs, a top layer of cheese and utterly divine!

The final dish was seasoned and grilled Manouri cheese, which is similar to Halloumi, and this was also absolutely delicious!

We sat down to a beautifully laid table and devoured the feast we had whipped up whilst learning about Jet2Holidays new 2020 Greek destinations, Parga and Lefkas, which are under the radar destinations for now but ones I will be adding to my 2020 travel plans for sure!
