LENOVO smart DISPLAY with the Google Assistant

LENOVO smart DISPLAY with the Google Assistant
I was kindly gifted the Lenovo Smart Display 8'" tablet by Lenovo but all views are my own.

Moving to my new house, one of my intentions was to make it as “Smart” as possible and so when the lovely people at Lenovo gifted me the Lenovo Smart Display with Google Assistant, I was excited to set it up and see what it was like.

As with all the lovely curveballs that houses come with, we didn’t move in when we were actually meant to due to building work delays and so forth and then a further delay was the task of nailing down Sky to get internet installed and so I had to wait even longer to test this out!

Finally my broadband was up and running and I unboxed this beautiful tablet.

The Lenovo Smart Display comes in both 10” and 8” and can be used either landscape and portrait. It is built so that it has a stand so you don’t need to go out and buy a separate case to make it stand up which is pretty handy. Mine is the 8″ and I love the size.

Setting it up was a doddle with the Google Home app on my iPhone. It synced to my Spotify account as well as Hive, and was literally good to go in a matter of minutes!

On your app you need to set up Voice Match so that you can instruct it with a simple “Hey Google..and whatever you want to ask it, which can range from the best Mojito recipes (if you know me well), to what the weather is like today, play a specific song and so forth.

I love to cook and when I am at home I do spend a lot of time in the kitchen, which is where I decided the Lenovo Smart Display would live so that I could play music whilst chopping or even ask it for recipe inspiration!

The best part of it being synced to Google Assistant is the plethora of smart home products that you can link to the Lenovo Smart Display that will address almost anything you can think of – from controlling the heating at home to even switching on the light at home whilst you are somewhere else.

It is a great way to experience hands-free living which very much appealed to me as I previously used an iPad and it always had smudges all over it as I had to constantly touch it do search something or play a song.

The HD screen on the tablet has incredible quality, is available in two sizes, 8-inch HD (1280 x 800) with a grey finish or a larger 10-inch version with an FHD (1920 x 1200) screen and Bamboo finish.

As I mostly work from home my primary uses are to play music, ask it questions such as if there are tube delays, if its going to rain etc, or to video call my husband, which is also another great feature because of the size of the screen. I also love that you can turn off the camera and microphone if you are worried about security issues.

You can also set up Routines to simplify tasks even further by stringing together multiple actions based on a single query. There are several ready-made routines already built into the app which you can also try out.

Unlike other tablets, the Lenovo Smart Display has to be constantly plugged into the wall so if you are looking for something which is portable and that you may use when there is no electricity supply, bear this in mind. If you are looking for a tablet to control all your Smart Home products and to use Google Assistant for as well as watch You Tube videos or play music, then this is the right product for you and it comes at a very reasonable price too – £159 for the 8″ and £229.99 for the 10″ https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/smart-display/

Since setting it up I have used it lots and lots daily and find it incredibly useful to multitask, love the screen size and resolution, the speakers are fab and I love the fact that I can control all my Smart Home products from one unit!

Do you use a tablet and/or have a Smart Home? Let me know in the comments xx

I love packing my bags and going off on adventures as one of the best things about travelling is the ability to just get lost in it. To set aside the maps and itineraries and just see where the road takes you, learning and evolving and living in the moment along the way.

It’s my goal to get swept off my feet as often as possible.
