My Top Winter Terraces and Bars in London – 2018 Edition

My Top Winter Terraces and Bars in London – 2018 Edition

Winter’s here and I’ve rounded up my favourite bars and winter terraces to cosy up over the coming months with a festive tipple and warm comforting food.

aqua shard

The Snowscape at aqua shard created in collaboration with Bompas & Parr stands on the corner of the 31st floor taking inspiration from an ornamental snow globe and The Shard’s distinguishable shape. Inside there is swirling snow and you can reach inside the structure to catch a golden snowflake and be entered to win a cocktail or a private dining experience.

To celebrate the festive season you can also enjoy a bespoke ‘Snowscape’ cocktail and dessert. The cocktail is served inside a snow globe, and is a mix of Plantation 3* rum, homemade coconut cordial and Becherovka liqueur.

Hyatt Regency London The Churchill

This is my favourite spot this winter, having already been there 3 times before it was even December 1st! It is also where I enjoyed my first Mulled Wine of the season.

The terrace has been designed to look like the Highlands and is the cosiest place to be this winter. The cocktails range are inventive and delicious, and the cheese fondue is to die for! Those with a sweet tooth can opt for the chocolate fondue.

Winter Terrace by Moët & Chandon at The Hari

This stunning winter wonderland is a cute spot for champagne, fondue or festive cocktails. It would be perfect for date night too! Reservations are recommended and it can also be hired for private events.

Smith & Whistle Winter Terrace by Baileys

Christmas and Baileys go hand in hand and Smith and Whistle have transformed their terrace into a gorgeous spot alongside a fabulous menu. On the tables are jars filled with marshmallows alongside little burners so you can have S’mores – genius!

‘Lodge d’Argent’ – Coq D’Argent

‘Lodge d’Argent’ is an après-ski themed bar and winter terrace, decked with vintage ski props, luxurious furry blankets draped over the backs of chairs to keep you warm, miniature polar bears tucked inside stunning snow-globe-style jars on table tops, and rich green foliage lining the terrace.

It is quieter on weekends and a lovely spot for a pre-dinner drink in the city.

Winter Gin Bar at Bar+Block Aldgate

Bar + Block Aldgate has a limited-edition Winter Gin Bar – a hot gin pop-up in partnership with Sipsmith  which will be on between 7th-9th December.

Here you can enjoy some of Sipsmith’s hot range of cocktails with a seasonal twist on the classic G&T. MY favourite is the Hot Mulled Sloe Gin with a fruity twist.

The Glenlivet Glade at Rosewood London

Rosewood London’s Terrace has been transformed into a magical woodland glade complete with a starry ‘night sky’ making it one of the most atmospheric places to enjoy a festive tipple this winter.  They have a wonderful range of The Glenlivet cocktails to choose from alongside some lovely food.

The Polo Bar, The Westbury Mayfair, a Luxury Collection Hotel, London

For the festive season, The Polo Bar have launched a brand new cocktail called ‘Santa is Coming,’ which is served beautifully, on a wooden coaster, and is a warm blend of  warm blend of Ketelone Vodka infused with spiced fruits and topped with a Panettone foam and a chunky piece of Panettone to graze on too.

A lovely escape from the crowds on nearby Oxford Street, The Polo Bar’s cocktails have always been a real delight.

Binita Shah-Patel

Hi, I’m Binny – a writer, dreamer, serial wanderluster and travel addict. I am originally from Kenya but now live in London. I set up this blog to share my experiences eating out as well as travelling.

I love packing my bags and going off on adventures as one of the best things about travelling is the ability to just get lost in it. To set aside the maps and itineraries and just see where the road takes you, learning and evolving and living in the moment along the way.

It’s my goal to get swept off my feet as often as possible.

I bet the Shard looks amazing at Xmas time, and the views of all the twinkly lights outside would be spectacular too.

This is a really great list although it has left me a little depressed because I won’t make it to any of them this year despite living in London! 😛 x
