Jazz evenings at The Rosebery Lounge, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park

The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, a glamorous 5-star hotel in the heart of Knightsbridge has a special place in my heart, for one year, we got to stay there by accident, as we had originally booked in at another hotel in the area for New Years Eve. To our luck, our original hotel messed up our booking and so put us up at The Mandarin Oriental instead, which I was secretly super pleased about, and so it was the venue of us beginning the new year in style and so will always be really special.

They have recently launched an elegant jazz night at the luxurious Rosebery Lounge, a gorgeous space within the hotel, and a real hidden gem for jazz fans, with live performances every Tuesday to Saturday evening, from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

It is such a fantastic place to spend an evening, or a special occasion, with its stunning and sumptuous surroundings, fabulous live music, and paired with refreshing champagne or cocktails and delicious food.

We were there on the first evening, to experience it, and I was totally blown away by the live performances by Megan McConell, who sung familiar tunes and was just so talented, accompanied with Jon Wright on his guitar.

For refreshments we started off with Ruinart Champagne served in stunning glasses.

Champagne and Jazz, for me, go hand in hand, and I love sitting back, relaxing and enjoying the music whilst indulging in really lovely bubbles.

We somehow happened to try the entire food menu that evening and had a decadent selection that we were spoilt with! Starting with the Crab Eclair, which was Portland Crab, Tarragon and Bisque Glaze in a classic Eclair.

The Steam Club, which was Chicken served with Kimchi Mayonnaise and Quail Egg, was really flavoursome and went well with the drinks.

Tuna Poke was mixed with Avocado and served creatively in a Taco Shell.

The Scallop Miso, which was Pan Fried Scallops, Onion and Tomato Compote, Yuzu Miso Sauce and Crispy Leek, was served beautifully in shells.

The Woo Har Tortilla, which was Prawn, Piquillo Aioli, Thai Basil and Crispy Tortilla, were really light and perfect if you wanted something really tasty but to satisfy any nibbles cravings.

My favourite was the Pea Croquette, served with Pea Puree and Wakame Mayonnaise. Just so delicious and a really filling and fantastic option for vegetarians too!

The final from the savoury selection was the Hedonist Sandwich – the DREAM combination of Iberico Ham, Brie Cheese, Truffle Butter all sandwiched in Toasted Tomato Bread. OMG it was the best flavours. I would SO love to see this offered as part of an afternoon tea selection as it was just incredible.

Dessert was called Agrum Essence, which was Baba with Orange Blossom Syrup, Cinnamon Curd and Vanilla Cream, and served with theatrical flair, with the full smokey effect with the aid of some dry ice. It was non-alcoholic but just sensational and the presentation definitely had a wow factor!

After enjoying all that incredible food and whilst loving and singing along to the tunes, we decided to order our favourite classic cocktails, a Mojito and a Pornstar Martini, both of which were perfectly made.

If you are looking for a lovely evening with Jazz music, fabulous food and amazing drinks, or for something different to do on a date night, or you simply want a way to beat the January blues, I really recommend an evening at The Rosebery Lounge. It is superb and a great way to end the day!

Ohh wow this looks amazing! Although I am in Essex, I am just 20 minutes by train from London, so we venture in most weekends. This sounds right up our street! I will look into it.
