The Bright Young Things Afternoon Tea at Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square, London

The Bright Young Things Afternoon Tea at Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square, London

The 1920s, also known as the ‘Roaring Twenties’ was an era of much contrast, hedonism and recklessness. Women were more confident and daring in their fashion, behaviour and there was a flurry of socialites and a sense of girl power.

“Bright Young Things’ was the nickname given to the aristocrats from this era and also the source of inspiration for the latest Afternoon Tea offering at The Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square, one of my much loved London hotels.

The former Port of Authority building in which the Four Seasons hotel is housed was actually from the 1920s too, which was is very fitting.

The afternoon tea takes place in the gorgeous Rotunda Lounge and this was my second time experiencing an afternoon tea here. We started off with a glass of Delamotte Brut Champagne and listened to the Pianist playing Jazz tunes. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

Upon recommendation from the server, I opted for a lighter tea for the Savoury course, and chose the Lemongrass Tea, which was absolutely divine.

Savouries were incredible and much to Amit’s delight, there was still the option of the Egg & truffle sandwich with watercress and soft cooked quail egg that we loved so much at our previous Afternoon Tea experience at the hotel.

We also loved the Chicken coronation with Curry mayonnaise and allysum flowers, Heritage beetroot with Hazelnut, chives & goat cheese mousse and Salmon rillettes with Lime mayonnaise, egg roe and lemon balm leaves. Due to dietary requirements we didn’t have the Beef sandwich on the menu and instead had an additional Egg and Truffle Sandwich. Win win!

The show-stopping  sweet selection just blew our mind. The presentation was incredible and it was all so colourful and vibrant, exactly how I imagined the 1920s to have been. It was also a nice variation from the traditional 3 tier stand and clearly a lot of creativity and thought has gone into this and it really works!

The attention to detail was incredible with my favourite designs being the inclusion of “pearls” as well as the ashtray. Just amazing!

For this course we enjoyed a Rubi grapefruit cheese cake with Cream cheese mousse and pink grapefruit confit, Mango, coconut & ginger, which was Citrus mousse, mango jelly, coconut and ginger dacquoise and very tropical, a Pistachio chantilly with blackcurrant & violet jelly, a Chocolate & salted caramel which was Salted butterscotch with Guanaja chocolate mousse and last but not least a Lime & raspberry pannacotta served in a glass.

The delicious homemade scones were served in a Jewellery box, which had the added bonus of keeping them warm, and which we enjoyed with clotted cream and homemade preserves. So so good! I think I am a clotted cream first kind of girl but in the name of research I continue to taste test both versions 😉

I absolutely loved everything but if I had to pick a favourite it would be the Chocolate and Salted Caramel, which was to die for.

Afternoon Tea at The Rotunda is wonderful and I highly recommend it for its uniqueness, attention to detail and all around wow factor. I loved everything about it and can’t wait till the next one!
