Love flowers? The Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show is on this year from 24-28 May and the pastry chefs from the Rose Lounge, at Sofitel St James have taken inspiration from it to create a selection of 4 lovely floral themed desserts and a cocktail.
Through the month of May, The Rose Lounge and The Balcon will be serving a bouquet of four delicious new desserts which are as follows:
The Poppy velour
This is a vanilla sponge cake with a heart of strawberry compote, poppy mousseline cream and a pink chocolate spray on a poppy seed crunchy base.
The Rose tartlet
A sweet pastry tartlet shell, filled with rhubarb and grenadine compote with rose water
The Daisy macaroon
A pretty macaroon filled with daisy diplomat cream, decorated with chocolate daisy flowers.
The Jasmin religieuse
This is a choux bun filled with jasmine diplomat cream and icing.
To accompany these desserts, is a delicious floral-inspired cocktail.
They have shared the recipe for this cocktail if you would like to recreate it and it is as follows:
The Chelsea Flower Show Cocktail Recipe
10ml elderflower syrup 15ml fresh lemon
10ml rose liqueur
Top with rosé champagne
We tried the desserts alongside a lovely Afternoon Tea, which had lovely scones, sandwiches and a selection of jam, lemon curd and cream.
I love the interiors in the Rose Lounge it is so pretty! A lovely place to relax and unwind.
You can try the Chelsea Flower show desserts either at The Balcon or on the pastry trolley with the afternoon tea in The Rose Lounge. The cocktail will be served in The Rose Lounge and St James Bar.
