Highlights of St Kitts & Nevis

St Kitts is a breathtakingly beautiful and scenic Caribbean island filled with lush tropical rainforests, beautiful sandy beaches, which range from white to its signature black, depending where you are on the island, clear waters, mountainous regions and lots of sunshine. St Kitts is the bigger of the two islands and its capital is Basseterre. Nevis is the smaller of the two islands that make up St Kitts & Nevis.

I stayed at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino which was brilliant. The guest rooms were luxurious with hints of West Indian influences, and very spacious. It is located in North Frigate Bay, in the centre of the island and is not far from the airport.

The resort had 8 restaurants, 3 lounges, a spa, golf course, casino, a massive pool and set on an amazing stretch of beach.I absolutely loved the service at the hotel and it was so relaxing.

Here are some highlights from my trip to St Kitts & Nevis.

Brimstone Hill Fortress

The island has a fair bit of history, and the Brimstone Hill Fortress is worth taking a look as it gives great insights into the colonial times. It has fantastic views from it too and is now a museum.

Take the sugar train around St Kitts

The island has a railway dotted around the coastline and you can take the colourful sugar train to see St Kitts from an alternative perspective. You are guaranteed gorgeous and scenic views and  the train, which is a double decker train, was used in the past for transporting sugar.

Zipline above the rainforests

A lot of St Kitts is a natural rainforest and you can take an exhilarating ride through the rainforests from a considerable height on a zipline.

This is an amazing experience and one which gives you an adrenalin rush. It was the highlight of my trip as it was an adventure and a unique way to see the natural parts of St Kitts. We even saw some Velvet monkeys. It was scary at first but by the end of it, after zip lining across several different lines, we wanted to do it all over again!

Day trip to Nevis

You can take a day trip to Nevis on a Catamaran and hang out on the beach and at the Four Seasons resort, where we had amazing ice cream. The beaches are beautiful and it is a lovely relaxing day.

On the way to Nevis you make a stop to go snorkelling which is an amazing way to see the colourful sealife and swim in the warm, beautiful water.

Relax on the beach

Spend a day unwinding and relaxing on one of the many beaches on the island while listening to the sound of the waves gently crashing on the shore. Bliss!

Fine dining at Serendipity

Not only does this restaurant have an amazing name, the food is pretty spectacular too., especially the sea food.

This was my favourite from the restaurants in St Kitts and you can find out more about this restaurant here. http://www.serendipitystkitts.net

To set aside the maps and itineraries and just see where the road takes you, learning and evolving and living in the moment along the way. It's my goal to get swept off my feet as often as possible!
