In the heart of the fashionable district of Mayfair is the elegant, and cosmopolitan award winning Polo Bar, located in the 5 star Westbury hotel.
The bar is designed with opulence in mind and has high end finishings of beautiful marble tops, sparkly Swarovski crystal fittings, Fendi detailing and luxurious furnishings. It looks amazing and has a luxurious feel when you walk in and is very spacious and not over crowded.
There is a gorgeous long bar with an impressive array of drinks available and is very classy. First impression when we walked in was that it was a very chic place to have some drinks and food and catch up in fabulous surroundings. The staff are very polite and welcoming and extremely knowledgable about the drinks.
We were given a lovely corner table from which we could people watch on Regent Street comfortably as it was drizzling outside. The menu is varied and impressive and has a lovely selection of Cocktails, Wines and Spirits to choose from.
We were keen to try the Winter Cocktails and so we went for an infused cocktail. The Winter selection has been carefully crafted by the Polo Bar’s Head Mixologist Carmine Catena and Head Chef Brian Fantoni who have taken their creativity to a new level with a host of new flavours, infusions and ingredients.
The cocktails are a reflection of this winter’s top cocktail trends, including tea infusions, spiced flavours and ginger concoctions.
The waiter explained the Botanical Brew Experience to us, which is a collaboration between Tanqueray No. 10 Gin and Fever Tree Tonic to bring an intriguing twist to the classic G&T. There are a variety of infusions and pairings and we were sold on the description so we went for the Pink Pepper and Orange Peel as one of our cocktails in the first round.
Both were delicious and I loved the Botanical Brew as the flavour was just so delicious and the gin had been infused perfectly. The presentation was also impressive and unique.
We had some bar food while we were enjoying our first round of cocktails and the menu is not your typical choice of bar food. It is a pretty attractive list of food choices and we went for the Vegetarian Spring rolls and the Panko crusted prawns, which came with a sweet chilli sauce.
We then chose our second round of cocktails after devouring the delicious food. I went for the Imperial Lavender, which was Snow Leopard vodka with homemade lavender syrup and freshly squeezed pomegranate juice.
Amit went for the Masterful, on recommendation from the waiter, and this was Millers Westbourne strength gin infused with apricots and shaken with homemade lavender syrup, lemon, sugar and egg white. A twist on the gin sour. He really enjoyed it.
Both looked wonderful and tasted exceptional.
We also had dessert which was excellent and the presentation was superb. Our choice was the Frangelico Cornettos, which are sweet cones filled with hazelnut liquor, pastry cream, caramel and honey cress. Heavenly is the only way to describe them and they did not last long on the table.
The service was top notch at the Polo Bar and I already want to visit it again as it is a hidden gem in Mayfair which has such a lovely, relaxing yet luxurious atmosphere without being too over the top. It has just the right balance to make you feel special and comfortable.
The cocktails are excellent, the food is drool worthy and it is a pleasant bar to unwind after a day of shopping in nearby Oxford Street and Regent Street.
I would really recommend the Polo Bar as a fabulous choice of bar to meet with friends, or go on a date, as it is really impressive. It would also be the perfect venue for celebrations. The Winter Cocktails are first-class and excellent so would really suggest going to try them out. The food menu is lovely so do try the bar dishes too!
